I do believe, or like to believe that the need for extreme subtlety when it comes to Same Sex Weddings, Ceremonys and Commitments is no more.
Whilst ALL Wedding Verses that are found can apply, I thought I try to create some verses for that most special of days that I feel are a little more fitting... I hope I have succeeded in getting the balance right . . .
You can refer to me as Queer, Poofter or Gay
I don't actually care what you have to say
I know what I am and I'm proud of myself of it.
And I will not make any apologies for it!
I do not maim, murder or steal
I am a good person. Accept the deal.
It's not catching like some viral disease
Just accept me, for who I am: Please!
I give up my seat to OAP's on the bus
When in the company of ladies, I do not cuss.
I have good manners, I was bought up right.
I enjoy a night out, do not look for a fight.
I am a normal person, much like the next.
So please don't look at me so perplexed.
When you call me, I do have a name.
I'll treat you with respect if you could just do the same
Same Sex Wedding Invite
Invite you to their special day
When we commit ourselves to each other
In a very special way.
We would so love you to be with us
as we exchange our vows
and become lifelong partners
in the way that we're allowed.
So please joins us at (place & date)
To witness our special day
as your presence there with us
Will mean more than words can say.
To each other
I cannot believe we're doing this:
A day I thought would never come
The day we dedicate ourselves to each other
and our lives truly become one.
All our friends and family
will witness our love this day
and their presence here with us
means more than words can say.
I love you so, with all my heart
We've already made lovely memories together
But this will be such a special one.
That will mean so much, forever.
Today we celebrate our union
In the way that we're allowed
Becoming your lifelong partner
makes me so very proud.
So what, it's not conventional
It may not be considered the "norm"
But we've got this far together
and we've ridden through the storm.
In front of all who love us
and know us for who we are
We'll commit ourselves to each other
and live our happy ever after.
Parents to Bride/Groom
I love the man/woman you have become
and I'm bursting with such pride.
That you stand and take your vows today
with such a loving partner by your side.
I guess it's only fitting
that someone so very special and caring
would fall for someone much the same
and build a life for sharing.
I/We wish for you both the best of days
One full of love and happiness
As two people such as yourselves
deserve the very best.
As your Mother, (name) I love you so
and on this your special day
Witnessing your commitment day
means more than words can say.
As a lovely man/girl/lady you are yourself
you've chosen a partner who
Is also very special
and brings out the best in you.
So in the "traditional" fashion
I take time to write and say
that my family has increased by one
on this very special day.
This special day is just the start
Of a lifetime of love and fun
It begins as you take your vows
when the two of you become one
On this special day of yours
The day, you two get hitched
You may not feel too much has changed
But your lives are more enriched.
We wish for you a lifetime
of love and lots of laughter.
Your own very special fairy tale
Your own happy ever after.
To a very special couple
who make such a perfect pair.
We send a wish for happiness
for the future that you'll share
A day to remember with good times to last
With memories you'll think of long after it's past.
The kind that brings love and warmth with each wish
Is hoping your wedding day is special like this.
Look at you both, such a perfect pair
From this day on, your lives, you share
Live, Love and Laugh and be forever true
From the moment you both say, “I do.”
Today we celebrate your union
In the way that you're allowed
Witnessing you both becoming lifelong partners
Is a day that makes me/us proud.
You're such a special couple
Who's loved in many ways
Wishing you lasting happy memories
of your very special day.
